2. Your Medicare expenses are tax deductible.

With tax season right around the corner, you might want to check out

our article about how you can deduct Medicare expenses

, including premiums, co-pays, and more, from your taxes before you file.

3. The

shingles

vaccine is now free on Medicare Part D.

Before the Inflation Reduction Act, you could have spent hundreds of dollars on Shingrix even with a Part D prescription drug plan. But starting in 2023, 100% of your costs of all adult vaccines, including shingles, are covered by Medicare.

4. There's a push for prior authorization reform.

Prior authorization is when doctors need approval from insurers to give treatment. According to

Axios

, 2 million prior authorization requests were denied in 2021. Of the 11% that were appealed, 82% of these decisions were reversed. This has led the CMS and the AMA to

push policymakers to act

this year and move prior authorization forms to a standardized electronic form for many insurers, which might lead to fewer denials of coverage for those with Medicare Advantage plans. The proposal would also require certain insurers to get back prior authorization requests quicker and add transparency to the process. These reforms would take effect in 2026.

5. Medicare Supplement Plan G is still the best coverage out there.‎

94% of our clients stay with us year-over-year, and many of them love their Medicare Supplement Plan G. We dig deeper into why you should keep your Plan G
